VFM – Vinyl Fence & More

I’m very happy with the entire process of hiring this company and I’m very pleased with the end result. I had a bit of a tricky design challenge and these guys were real pros. One issue for me, is that I was bisecting a low retaining wall at a 3-way multi height intersection wherein i was installing 2 different height fences which also happened to be on a grade. Another issue was that I was getting a bottom gap which was created by my property being on a grade that was perpendicular to the first grade. Both issues were handled by these guys with no stress put on me and no surprise extra fees. I was also impressed by how sturdy the fence is. My install was on concrete slab and i was not certain how the mounting would go. They drilled holes, inserted 3 tall rebar rods per post, and filled the vinyl posts with concrete. Very well done. The gate is 6 ft tall and I pretty wide and I was worried vinyl would end up feeling wobbly and reverberating when slammed, but not at all. The gate hardware they used is good quality and the gate shuts on itself with self closing hinges with the correct amount of force and the fence is built for it. No reverberation and it feels very solid. The install was much sooner than I expected and the guys were all really great – friendly, and professional. If I thought anyone was still reading I could even write more good things… 🤣 Oh one more thing, I assumed this company would cost more since they do custom work but I was nicely surprised that that was not the case. Their bid was right in there, completely competitive with the other companies all of whom I was far less impressed by. I know its a pain to get a bunch of quotes, but no matter how many you already got, definitely get a bid from these guys as well.

We are very happy with our new vinyl gates that we just had installed to replace our wooden ones that had been chewed up by termites. The crew did a great job with the installation, making adjustments that we wanted. A sprinkler pipe was accidentally broken to which they responded promptly and repaired. Really happy we contacted and hired Vinyl Fence & More.

In response to Erin’s review and to the reply by VFM – Vinyl Fence & More owner. I am also the homeowner next door to the project that was done to the neighbor’s property. I will admit that us not knowing about the fence coming down was the fault of the neighbors not telling us about it and their choice of lack of communication.
I will also admit that VFM – Vinyl Fence & More did come back the next day and did fix our gate and fence where it was broken due to their project. And our gate likely is in better state as before now. But that’s the bare minimum IMO.
But where I deviate from the the VFM company owner’s response is that I still believe VFM is to blame for leaving our gate propped up that night it was not functioning without notifying us whatsoever or leaving any sort of note about it. It fell down when I barely touched it to close it because I didn’t realize it was broken or non functional and it almost fell on me. Thank goodness my toddler and baby weren’t next to me when the gate fell down. It is unprofessional to not notify us that our property won’t be secured for the night and that the gate shouldn’t be touched for the night so it doesn’t fall down and hurt someone.
Also, the foreman Ivan is super unprofessional and angry. The day of the project I spoke to Ivan through the Ring doorbell camera about him wanting to move our belongings away from the fence so they could start work and Ivan was extremely rude. He misled us into saying that he had already told us to move the things the day before when my spouse had been the one to approach him about the project (no one told us anything) and then when he walked away I said “hey excuse me” to get his attention again to let him know about our strawberry plant and Ivan responded with “my name is not excuse me it’s Ivan by the way and you can’t call me ‘excuse me’”. I said I had not heard his name and was trying to be polite to get his attention and told him not to be rude and he said he was being professional all the while speaking to me extremely rudely.
What a nightmare of a project!
2 stars just because the company did fix our broken side the next day. Thank goodness no one was hurt! I hope they are able to increase their communication to neighbors and not assume the homeowners are doing it

EDIT- to change to one star after John’s response below from VFM. We were not involved in the walk through or told what to do with our gate in July or ever or told the date that the work would be performed. Also you completely avoided responding to the rudeness of your workers as well as the SAFETY VIOLATION your company posed when you (not the neighbors this time) decided to leave our broken gate propped up on itself without any communication to us as to its condition so when I went to close it that night it collapsed almost on top of me. Thank goodness my small children were not next to me. I hope you will see this as a learning opportunity to communicate better with neighbors especially when the neighbor’s property is affected and left barely standing and unsecured.
