Dr. Lauren is the kind of practitioner that you hope to encounter and work with. She is thoughtful, empathic, knowledgeable, and has realistic expectations. She meets you where you are and finds a way for you to succeed. She understands the body, for many different injuries and areas of focus. I have seen her for a sprain ankle, post-partum recovery, C-section scar massage, and back spasms. She is responsive and genuinely wants to see her patients get better. I highly recommend Dr. Lauren (or anyone at Thrive) if you want to feel better in your body and move without pain.
I am working with Lauren on my pelvic floor throughout my first pregnancy. She has worked wonders helping me get rid of some pesky hip pain that was making it hard to walk! Not only that but sessions with her are an absolute joy. Who knew PT could also be fun!?
I have only recently seen Dr. Tam but I am already seeing improvement in my body pain. I have had sciatic and upper/low back pain for a long time, and have seen it come and go over the years. Recently it has been really bad and I needed extra guidance.
The facility is cozy and comfortable and has a lot of fitness equipment available. It was slightly hard to find. I was given good instructions that almost got me there but I still almost missed in. It’s tucked in the corner next to the Imperial House Apartments entrance.
Dr. Tam is incredibly knowledgeable and has taught me a lot about what aspects of my body need improvement. I was given homework that is challenging but simple enough to do every day and I am really seeing improvement. She is also really nice and easy to talk to, and she made me feel very comfortable during all of my visits!
i have been seeing Dr Rowena Tam at Thrive PT for about a month following surgery to remove a kidney and tumor in September. She is both knowledgeable and caring and I feel very safe in her care. Rowena is helping me to gradually strengthen as well as deal with other issues related to the surgery. i highly recommend her.
As an elite masters runner, cumulative injuries and misalignments can eventually end a running career. I’ve been injured for two years, seen innumerable specialist, both Orthopedic surgeons and PTs. I’ve left each session without a clear indication of my dysfunction and have submitted to injections and other procedures. All to no avail.
I felt like my assault on world age group records, and even modest running was over, that I was in a new stage of compromise and decline.
This visit was a last attempt at finding a PT with functional training.
In a single visit with the Thrive doctor I was given the most extensive and informed evaluation of my gait disfunction. The level of expertise and the ability to communicate and show me the particulars of where I have lost range of motion was exceptional.
Everything made sense! Even simple observations and adjustments brought relief I’ve not felt in two years, even post cortisone injections.
I feel I have a future as a runner now. I understand this is a progression and am committed to a 12 sessions to correct years of misalignment and that I need to follow a plan. There are no immediate fixes, but I’ve a real plan now..
This was the most positive consult I’ve ever had and I’ve been treated for some 4 decades related to various injuries.
As an athlete I feel it my duty to direct fellow athletes to those select few professionals who have the skill set to really help athletes. I could go on, but the above hopefully captures my sense of mental and physical relief to find the right care.
