A nice place to come in the gas lamp quarter for a casual lunch or dinner. We had the BBQ Bacon Burger and the Crispy Classic Chicken. Both were very tasty and the chicken was cooked to perfection. The pickle on the side was a nice touch. We enjoyed the natural fountain soda. It was refreshing and not too sweet like other pop.
We had the original and BBQ melts. They were both great. We also got the ceaser salad. The grilled cheese croutons were a fun idea! The salad was a little difficult to eat – it would’ve been easier if they offered to dress the salad for us. And the croutons broke the disposable forks.
Was delicious. I’d probably skip the lemonade next time, but the beverage options were lacking to me.
I really enjoyed the texture of the mac and cheese and the pickle was excellent.
I wouldn’t go out of my way to go here if I’m ever in San Diego in the future, but as a nice, quick dinner hopping off the trolley, it’s a nice score.
PS the rice crispy treats are not made in house.
Ok let me tell you if you are visiting the Gaslamp area of San Diego and looking for a casual spot for unique spin on great burgers, sandwiches, and shakes….You must run not walk to the Melt. It was so good the first night I went back two days later for lunch. The first time had the Sicilian Chicken sandwich, a juicy chopped chicken melt with a spicy garlic aoili and loaded with mushroom. VERY GOOD in my Tabitha Brown voice ☺️. Today I came back to try their famous burgers and to have more of the Ginger Beer. The owner convinced me to get the Swiss & Shroom burger. She did not steer wrong. I was doing my happy dance in my seat while eating it was so delicious 😋.And the sweet potatoes were the perfect pairing. Service was friendly and fast both times. 10 out of 10.
Truly excellent Mac and cheese. Perfect cheesy blend and deliciously crispy crumbs on top.
Service was great for me but many patrons walked away disappointed when I was in store because they didn’t have any burgers. It wasn’t explained why this was the case (which may have helped) but it was clearly what the peeps were coming in for.
Made a note to come back for a burger next time!
