The Market Place

The best store in the neighborhood! This place is basically a mini grocery store with an amazing deli, pizza, and soup selection. They also have lots of great beer, wine, and gourmet snacks. The Californian sandwich is one of the best I’ve ever had, and is loaded with quality ingredients. Their pepperoni pizza is better than some of the other pizza joints in the neighborhood. The selection of products is surprisingly diverse, and of high-quality! The prices are reasonable, considering the quality of products and convenience of the location (across the street from Balboa Park!) The people working here are super nice and helpful. I live a few blocks away and go here for everything I need in between trips to the grocery store, even down to basic milk and eggs! I hope this place never changes, it truly is a gem – long live The Marketplace!

Used to be my go to sandwich place, but I tired of my orders being incorrect with every stop and my pizza looking like this. I’ve wasted so much money here it’s insane. Not to mention, I live pretty far so driving up here to be constantly dissatisfied isn’t ideal. Manager had promised me a free meal and never honored it either.

I highly recommend checking out the marketplace; it’s a great place to grab lunch. They have a deli section with salads and other dishes, as well as a variety of made-to-order options like burgers, sandwiches, and even breakfast items. The prices are unbeatable, making it a great spot for a quick meal. I lived in the condo building next door, so I would stop by a few times a week for either dinner or lunch. They also offer a full selection of wine, beer, and sodas, as well as chips and other odds and ends you may need. It’s the perfect place to grab a snack or meal while enjoying great value. Overall, I absolutely love this place!
