I really liked the food here. The flavors are authentically Indian and not overly rich, resembling home-cooked meals. The thali is quite popular and gives a homely vibe. The chaats are also very good. One highlight is the availability of tawa rotis, which I haven’t found at any other Indian restaurant in San Diego. The service is fast, though parking outside is limited.
Sattvik Foods in San Diego is a gem! There’s no other Indian restaurant that even compares. The food is fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with a lot of care. I really appreciated the variety of vegetarian and vegan options, each one better than the last. My favorites are the Dahi Puri, Papdi Chaat, and Pav Bhaji. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, and the owner and staff are friendly and attentive. It’s the perfect spot whether you’re already a fan of plant-based meals or just looking to try something new. Can’t wait to go back! Highly recommend.
Chaat done right, their dahi Vada and dahi puri feel like they have been perfected — the right amount of sweet, savory, spice and texture.
The Manchurian is also lovely but I’m used to more heat so if you like spicy ask for more chili.
With how the food is done you never even realize that there’s no meat on the menu. And I don’t feel comatose like what other Indian food often does due to the lack of oil and “filler” like cream you come to expect in Indian cuisine.
The prices are super affordable and there’s nothing around, yes, even Taco Bell that can give you quality food at such a low price… I don’t know how they’re able to keep the prices so low.
Lastly I love the posters— gives the place some character and you know that the chef is as spicy as her food without taking herself too seriously
Wish we had something like this in Singapore, it puts a lot of Indian places to shame.
The food is too good. We really loved it.
The samosa Chaat was top tier.
A great way to start your morning
It’s a great idea to have a sattvik restaurant especially for UCSD students who miss home-cooked meals. But the food is really unpredictable… sometimes it comes out perfect other times too salty or not enough salt. I think it would be great if they started to measure out the amount of salt to ensure consistency in the food.
Other than that they were nice and accommodated my order even though I came right before closing. But they should really update their hours because on google it says they take out till 9pm on Saturdays but they don’t.
