San Diego Burger Co.

I recently visited San Diego Burger Co. for a long-awaited reunion with a friend after two years. Excited to treat her to a nice dinner, we chose this restaurant based on its reputation for good burgers. Unfortunately, my experience was far from pleasant.

My friend ordered first, and I followed, paying for the entire bill. However, things took a turn when I encountered Zayareth M, the cashier. Instead of processing our orders efficiently, she began pushing buttons to upsell the fries as a combo. It would have been much simpler if she had asked me directly if I wanted the combo from the start. In the process, she inadvertently deleted one of our burgers. I had no idea this had happened, as I had just provided my order.

After we received our food, we realized we were one burger short. My friend approached Zayareth, only to be told she needed to repurchase the missing burger. What was particularly frustrating was that Zayareth never offered to take my friend’s order next; instead, I had to go to the front of the line to inform her that this was her mistake and that we shouldn’t have to wait in line with ten people behind us to replace an order. I then went to the register to discuss the confusion, but Zayareth seemed more interested in shifting blame than resolving the issue. Her attitude was troubling; there was no apology for the mix-up, just insistence that it was my fault. When I explained that my friend had to leave in less than 30 minutes, I asked if she could expedite the missing burger, especially since there was already a significant delay. She refused to help and ignored my request, displaying a poor attitude and a lack of understanding.

After repaying for the burger we thought we had already ordered, I returned to the register once the line cleared. I tried to explain again that my friend was on a time constraint and that the burger should have been part of our original order. Instead of being helpful, Zayareth continued to deflect responsibility and refused to provide her name until I noticed it on the receipt.

What added to my frustration was her handling of the order numbers; she skipped over ours multiple times, causing unnecessary delays. It felt like she was deliberately complicating the situation over a simple cheeseburger. I understand what good customer service looks like, and unfortunately, Zayareth did not provide it.

I haven’t felt compelled to write a review in a long time, but this experience left me extremely disappointed.

In conclusion, while San Diego Burger Co. may be known for its burgers, the customer service was lacking. If you value good service and a smooth dining experience, I recommend looking elsewhere. It’s unfortunate that a restaurant with such good burgers could be let down by poor customer interactions. This entire experience made me lose my appetite. Money not well spent. By the time my friend got her burger she only had 10 minutes before she had to leave. We had an hour and 30 minutes. That just goes to show you what a nightmare experience this was. So if you have almost 2 hours to spare for a simple burger dinner I recommend going to this place.
