    Dear Cardiology Office,

I am writing to express my disappointment and concern about the treatment my family and I experienced during our visit to your office on 12/10/24.

Earlier in the day, I had taken three of my four children to a bloodwork office for testing. During that time, my daughter began feeling queasy, and the staff kindly provided her with a throw-up bag in case she needed it. Unfortunately, she did end up needing it later during our visit to your office.

When we arrived, I was immediately questioned about whether I had another adult with me, as I was told that all four of my children could not be present in the office at the same time. This was extremely upsetting, as it completely disregarded my circumstances. My husband is currently away on military training, and I do not have the luxury of additional help or a babysitter. My children are my responsibility, and I manage them as best as I can. I felt judged and belittled for simply trying to attend an important appointment.

While I was checking in one of my children, my daughter—who had been feeling ill—used the throw-up bag she had with her. Instead of handling the situation discreetly or offering support, the staff made a significant and unnecessary scene in front of the waiting room, drawing attention to us and embarrassing me further. I was then informed that my children and I would need to wear masks and was instructed to separate my children, leaving my 12-year-old and 5-year-old in the waiting room while I went inside with my 11-year-old and 1-year-old.

I tried to maintain my composure and ignore how poorly I was being treated, even though I felt humiliated and devalued. I didn’t say anything in the moment, choosing to hold my emotions in until we got to the car. It wasn’t until then that my children brought up how rude the staff had been to me, which broke my heart. No patient, especially one managing multiple children under challenging circumstances, should be made to feel like a burden or like they are failing.

This experience has left a lasting negative impression on me, and I urge your office to review its policies and staff training. Compassion and understanding are essential in healthcare, especially when working with families and children. I would also like to know what steps your office will take to ensure that no other patient has to go through what I experienced.

Thank you for your time and attention to this matter. I look forward to your response.

Dr Fagan and the nurses and technicians were so great with my 7 month old daughter! They were all so patient, kind, caring, and just so good with us both! I am pleased to say I gave them all 5 stars and more if I could!!! This is the first time I have ever given such a high recommendation!!!
