First time here and based on a few reviews, I dropped by. Roast beef with au jus can be hit or miss with many places. Philippe in LA is the standard by which I go by and Poma was very close. It’s definitely a bigger portion size which is a great value for the price. I’d go without the mayo next time. Service good and beach vibe always chill. I’d go back.
Growing up here in OB, Poma’s has always been a great stop. I read some of these reviews and had to laugh at the bad ones. Y’all are crazy. This is the best sandwich. The staff is always chill. If there’s something wrong with your experience, it’s you, because it’s not these guys or their food. One of the best places to eat.
Best meatball sub in Ocean Beach. You step up to the window and within 10 minutes they hand you your order. Unless you don’t mind a concrete bench to sit on, you now have to travel to your destination with the tempting aroma of this masterpiece tempting you to pull over and eat in your car.
The crusty roll gives way to the perfect meatballs. There is the perfect amount of marinara with just the right amount of garlic and the flavor of provolone cheese that is balanced with the tender meatballs.
This is one of my guilty pleasures whenever I go to San Diego.
Meatball sub and torpedo were both pretty good.
I get it’s probably their “thing” but plopping whole peppers and huge chunks of plain tomato on top really didn’t add much to an otherwise solid Italian sub and made me wish I’d gone somewhere that would just slice them properly.
Worked here 30 years ago while attending SDSU. Meatball and Cheese & Roast beef w Cheddar taste exactly the same! Price point is great considering the times. Less than $11 for each.
