This fish restaurant is fantastic! The fish was incredibly fresh, and I highly recommend both the fish sandwich and the halibut—they were packed with flavor and so tasty. It’s a unique setup where you order, pick up your food, and find your own table, which adds to the laid-back vibe. The food was top-notch, and I loved the casual, no-fuss experience. If you’re a seafood lover, this place is a must-visit!
Nice views, very difficult parking when their lot (60min spots) fills. Large menu with a seafood counter. I ordered the combo and it was okay, all fried food. No pets allowed on the upper patio only in the lower outdoor area.
Absolutely loved it! The fish was fresh and high-quality, and the pricing felt reasonable. The Manhattan soup was fantastic, and the fish was cooked to perfection—delicious all around!
My girl and I were driving through Point Loma and we were looking for someplace to eat.
Specifically, we were looking for a place that was casual, had outside seating and had good seafood options.
She recommended Point Loma Seafood because she had eaten there a long time ago and had a memorable meal.
We were fortunate to find parking in the lot directly in front of this establishment. Looking around, it looks like it would be difficult to find a spot if it were a busy day. But keep in mind that this is during the weekday in October.
We entered and I realized the setup; you order at the front cashier, they call-out your number and you pick-up and seat yourself.
The interior is an entire waiting area, where customers can view all the fresh seafood in the glass cases. Their expansive menu, is posted above these cases and allows for everyone to see what they want at a glance. I did not see any paper menus posted.
Service was friendly and relatively fast.
I ordered a simple fish & chips and my girl ordered a shrimp plate with fries & coleslaw.
The prices were a little up there, as to be expected for a fresh seafood establishment in the area.
We grabbed our food and found seating outside in their patio dining area on the lower-floor.
We had just a little view of the marina and it was covered with umbrellas & had napkins & condiments.
My fish was pretty good, but the cuts felt kind of small compared to other places I’ve visited.
I regret not asking g what type of fish it was.
It was moist, not too oily and fell apart easy.
First bite was good and I had to add lemon & tartar sauce to unlock some of the flavors desired.
My true disappointment came with the “chips” or fries, which were soggy, flavorless (unseasoned) and the coleslaw was “dry” and lacked ANY flavor.
So I felt like I paid over $20 for some “Okay” fish.
Not very happy about this.
My girl had a similar experience with her shrimp plate. “Good” shrimp, but the sides were lacking.
I believe that the gem of this place is being able to sit on the upper patio that overlooks the marina and maybe lucking-out on a seafood dish that is full-proof; maybe something like chowder or crab with no sides.
Perhaps they’ll improve again and we just went on a bad day.
Soft Crab sandwich was good. Coleslaw and fries were just plain. Crab cake sandwich was also just plain. Not much Crab in it. Actually, it tasted more like store bought and re-fried.
Service could use a little more effort and smile.
