Excellent coffee shop with lots of seating and great vibes. They even made some super cute “latte” art in the kids hot chocolate. In a great walking area too!
After waiting for 15-20 minutes(got in line about 10:30am on a Saturday) just to order coffee, it better be the best coffee I’ve ever had. It wasn’t. Ultimately the latte I had was watery and had very little flavor. Moniker has signs everywhere which say “skip the line and order online.” I tried to do that but they only have food as an option to order online, except they are marked as out of stock. Once we approached the register to order coffee we found out they actually weren’t out of stock. Moniker might be the most unorganized coffee shop I’ve ever been too. Most table are being taken up by a single person with a laptop, some without any coffee or food. It’s incredibly loud in the space. The person who took my order was polite but the barista was the opposite. Skip the stop and find somewhere else which has better tasting coffee and an efficient front of house.
Moniker is a great place to do homework, work, or meet up with others! There’s a TON of seating options, inside and outside.
I got a hibiscus tea and while it wasn’t my thing, other people might like it since I’m not a huge tea person.
If you have mobility restrictions, it may be hard to get in, as steps are on all entrances. Bathroom is available on site. Tap to pay is available!
Really good cocktails at the bar here. Great bartenders take extra care crafting the cocktails for sure. High quality hooch behind the bar and they put the bottle down in front of me so I could get familiar with what I was drinking. The coffee side seemed fine for milk drinks and such. Espresso seemed tuned for that. I like a straight espresso and theirs was fine, just not 5/5 level compared to some other SD coffee shops. If it was a cocktail bar, they get all the stars. Coffee in the name means I gotta dock ’em one for not being elite among their peers. That said, the place is great and I’ll happily go back.
My husband and I found this place the last day in San Diego after living there for 2 months, and we were so sad to go only one time. It is stunning inside and is every girls coffee shop dream. Quite a few outlets to use for computers. I got a cold brew with Tiramisu cold foam and husband got Tiramisu latte which were both tasty. The staff were super nice too! Highly highly recommend coming here especially if you need to work or want to just sit for a few hours. There is plenty of seating.
