If you have a Gluten allergy, then this should be the only Chinese restaurant you go to. Their Gluten Free food is beyond amazing. Almost anything can be prepared to be Gluten Free, so you won’t have to worry about no options and the flavor profile brings the same punch the regular Gluten version has. I’m basic, but the Orange Chicken & Salt and Pepper Chicken Wings and some of the best I’ve had in San Diego. Please stop by and give this place a try.
The Mandarin wok is a good little mom and pop Chinese restaurant. We ordered the pu pu platter appetizer, Jasmine tea, shrimp in lobster sauce and cashew chicken. Each entree came with 1 egg roll, steamed or fried rice and hot and sour soup or egg drop soup. Everything was tasty and seemed to be made fresh but not over the top with delicious flavor – just average. Service was excellent and the food came out quickly. The decor seems traditional. The restaurant was clean. One thing that was different, the tables have plastic white tables clothes which are then cover with a glass table topper. I’m used to a cloth table cover, but its probably more economical to do plastic. The restaurant is in a little strip mall, we went for lunch on a Friday and it didn’t get very busy. I could see that if they did get busy parking would be an issue because the strip mall is small. Some customers came to order to-go. Our total was less than $40 before tip.
We came from out of town and were craving Chinese we ended up finding this place.
As soon as we walked in we were immediately greeted by the nicest gentleman. We were a party of 7. Instead of just giving us an extra chair he went the extra step and gave us an extra table because he wanted us to be comfortable. The amazing hospitality did not stop there . They were quick to give us our drinks and orders . The food was absolutely delicious and the staff was very very attentive. I can not say enough great things about this place . I wish them the absolute best . We’ll definitely stop by whenever we’re in town.

We ordered carry out tonight; Mongolian Beef, the two egg roll order, and shrimp fried rice. Very good food and was ready when promised. Prices are fair and quantity was good. We will definitely be going back there in the future.
This is an old style Mandarin restaurant. Their food is very good and the portions are very large. They have a $20 dinner special that is just amazing for both vegetarian and carnivore alike. This restaurant reminds me of the family owned Chinese, restaurants my parents used to take us to as kids. Parking is ample and the location is perfect right next to Starbucks, a nail salon, and a barber, on Balboa & Clairemont.
