Really cool place serving chicken and pork crispy tacos! They are cash only. The tacos were very moist. I prefer the pork one because it had more flavor. The salsa was very good! The service was fast and they were very welcoming.
We used to be big fans and went here at least 1-2 times every month. It’s really sad to see one of my favorite restaurants to eat go downhill so fast. We have been coming here for over 13 years… We recently went on Saturday (after they temporarily closed down after the inspection), and while it was nice not to wait 45 mins to get food, we were completely disappointed with food. I agree with other reviews that pork was not as tasteful as before, and they drenched my husband’s burrito. He simply couldn’t eat it wrapped and had to pick on chicken inside. The ladies are also so stingy with spicy sauce like they now always give us a hard time for getting more than 2, but they are also not as spicy as before. My pork taco also had little meat, and normally I would be sooo stuffed eating 3 tacos and a tamale. I felt like I could eat two more tacos because the portions became so small. Definitely not worth it anymore…
Food is authentic & delicious! Be prepared to order quickly so the line keeps moving. The tamales, tortillas, rice and beans are fantastic! There is seating on either side of the kitchen. Don’t let the line deter you from stopping.
I travel extensively and am a foodie. This was by far the most disappointing experience of Mexican cuisine. I’m sure the original owners had a 100x better food. Looking for the oldest Mexican restaurant, I came here expecting a delicious meal. They only have chicken or pork meat for tacos. What true Mexican restaurant doesn’t have lingua or al pastor? The pork was bland and tasteless. I used a lot of hot sauce and lemon to flavor it. And the rice! Felt like Asian sticky rice, again tasteless and smooshed.
I’ve had much better Mexican cuisine in Seattle, San Francisco even Denver than this original, oldest restaurant near the boarder. What a waste of appetite and money. BTW, they only take cash. 🤦♀️. If you just want to try this place for the sake of its age, go ahead. However, if you are looking for a delicious Mexican food, I do NOT recommend this place.
I’m glad this place reopened. I went here thr week after they reopened. Food is still good however a few things I noticed since me last vist here in October 2024. I had the Chorizo Beans 2 Meat Tacos . The Tacos weren’t as crunchy the meat inside was missing something I believe that my last vist the meat had a sauce this time it was pale and dry But they are still good, I added a lot of salsa.. With the Chorizo Beans, I feel the chorizo isn’t the same but it’s still really good. The tortillas were awesome. Overall rating a 4 I’ll definitely go back and hope the small differences get resolved .
