The food is decent, and I would recommend coming here if you’re in North Park and looking for a decent Thai place, but you must know the food is very salty. That is the sole reason I gave four stars. Aside from the moderately high but “reasonable for North Park” prices, the service provided by the waitress was very good and the food came out relatively quickly. I can’t speak for how busy the restaurant normally is but parking was tremendously hard to find, which is typical for this area.
What a fabulous late afternoon lunch/early dinner! Just fantastic. Came into San Diego for the afternoon to check out 30th street. Decided to grab a bite to eat. Turned out fabulous! Loooved our dishes and the funky atmosphere! Would defiantly eat here again. I never had Thai Iced tea (got mine with coconut milk) as its kinda like thai coffee but cold, yum!
Had the Tofu drunken noodles (#3spice and rice noodles, the cucumber salad (!!!), tom yum chicken wings and crispy pork belly rice dish!
Kin Len is so delicious! The atmosphere is chill and the servers are kind. I go to Thailand every summer so it’s nice to come somewhere in the states that is authentic. Highly recommend!
We’ve been here twice so far and each time it’s been incredible. The first time I got soup with ribs (name is escaping me) and my fiancé got the curry noodle dish (first noodle dish in noodle section of menu). I was impressed by the flavor of the curry it honestly blew me away, more of a thick saucy consistency compared to curry that absorbs into rice. The depth of flavor here was insane. The bowl of noodles I got with ribs was heart warming and easy on my stomach, and I forget what we got as an appetizer.
The second time around we split some sake, the cucumber salad, a fried chicken dish with rice and curry that had some sort of bread to dip in which honestly tastes like a flattened croissant it was buttery and flakey perfection – chef’s kiss!! This combined with the lemongrass in the curry and the crispy skin of the chicken honestly this dish alone will have me coming back time and time again. The last dish we split was the shrimp wonton soup with added egg noodles and the broth was perfect, just enough saltiness, and the wontons themselves were silky and smooth with a light fresh shrimp filling. All around perfect meal and felt like a giant hug.
What a great street food-style Thai restaurant located in North Park! Be prepared to circle around for paid street parking.
Environment/Service:
My friend and I went at 1pm on a Thursday and we were seated right away and opted for an outdoor table where they have a few 2 person tables. Inside, there are 2-4 person tables. Doesn’t seem the place to be for larger groups. Our server was very attentive, constantly filled up our waters, and food came pretty fast!
Food:
-Spicy Fish Cake ($10.95): 5 pieces of round fish cakes, served with sweet chili sauce. Wasn’t too spicy and was a little chewy. I’d probably skip this next time.
-Tom Yum Wings ($10.95): 6 pieces half drums/half flats. The crunch was perfect and the flavor was super good! I’d order this again.
-Drunken Mama ($18.95): not your regular Thai drunken noodles. It has thin noodles, more saucy, and had great flavoring! Served with a good amount of shrimp, mussels, and scallops.
-Basil Beef ($15.95): 4/5 spice. I love spicy food and this had a little bit of a kick to it! Served with rice and fried egg on top. I realllyyy enjoyed this dish!
-Thai Tea: free with check in
Overall:
There were so many options that it was hard to choose between the two of us! The servings were not as big as you’d expect for the prices but we still ended up full and had enough to take home for left overs. I’d love to come back to try out other items on the menu.
