Wow! Not much to say, must be one of the top spots in San Diego. Great concept, clearly passionate about what they do. Only a few tables to keep it cozy and intimate. Friendly folks, fresh food, fun experience.
I finally got to try the infamous HiroNori that everyone talks about. I’ve tried visiting other times in the past, but the wait is always too long (over an hour). Additionally, parking is difficult in this area.
Anyway, my husband and I tried their Vegan Gyoza, Shoyu Ramen and the Vegan Ramen. Everything was very good and full of flavor. However, I will say I enjoy the pork chatshu much better at Tajima. I will note, the broth in both ramens were exceptional. I will definitely eat here again!
Apologies for my ugly photos, it was takeout. Trust me that the photos don’t do the food justice.
Waited 30 minutes on a Sunday afternoon around 5 pm. It’s totally worth the wait. This is a small restaurant common around the area of Hillcrest.
We had Tonkatsu Ramen, 1 ordered as combo and came with spicy tuna rice bowl.
Ramen broth was rich and robust. Noodles came out chewy. I love that it had spinach and some bean sprouts only, and the rest is up to you to add. Chashu was nicely charred.
Unexpectedly, their version of karrage, called “crispy chicken,” was really light, airy, and crispy
My co workers asked if I wanted something for lunch. They picked out this place and my expectations were pretty low.
No BS this is the best ramen I’ve had in my life. I ordered the pork and added the red sauce.
Order the Tonkotsu Ramen.
These people know exactly what they are doing and are very good at their job.
Run don’t walk.
How can ramen be so good!! The chicken broth was incredibly tasty, and the noodles added a perfect chewy texture that soaked up all the flavors. The toppings were generous and fresh, with tender slices of pork, a perfectly soft-boiled egg, and crunchy vegetables that balanced each bite. The seasoning was spot-on—not too salty, but full of depth. It’s clear they put a lot of care into crafting each bowl, and it made for such a comforting and satisfying meal. I’ll definitely be coming back for more!
