This place is legit. I was at first taken aback by the astronomical price of their burritos; even the tacos seemed expensive. However, once the food comes out you understand why everything is so pricey. A $20 burrito is absolutely massive, and that’s not even the largest burrito (something in the range of $40-$50). Everything was really tasty and a buddy went back the following day to eat there again.
Carne Asada Burrito Review
Summary:
“Can’t go wrong” – A good-sized burrito at a standard San Diego price of $14.81. The tortilla is fresh and tender, and the meat is juicy and lite flavor. The taste is satisfying, though it could use a bit more flavor for those who aren’t fans of hot sauce. The variety of hot sauces available is a great bonus. Hole in the wall with seating but would only take togo.
Time of Visit
Visited at 8pm. The place was empty, no other customers around. There’s no drive-through, but street parking is available right in front. Like other reviews, I saw only one guy in there busy cleaning and is the cook so he might not hear you coming.
Highlights:
– The meat is juicy, soft, and cut into small pieces, making it easy to eat. A lot of meat. Come with a tad amount of pico de gayo and guacamole 🥑.
– Self-serve station with a variety of creamy and regular hot sauces (green, orange, red), along with chips, a big sauce container, and radish condiments.
Suggestions:
– Add more flavor to the meat for those who prefer not to use the complimentary hot sauces.
-some folks may want a bit more pico de gayo or guacomole
-May need a customer bell to get the attention of the “one guy” 😂.
I never leave reviews but I just left this place & spent $48 dollars. The guy taking my order was also the one making the food so I gave him grace when it took about 4mins to come to the counter for my order. However, I ordered the Saturday burrito special (Cali surfing) that comes with carne asada, shrimp, fries, guac, pico & chipotle sauce. I got the guacamole & chipotle on the side. When I got home (20mins away) I discovered that my burrito was full of rice, very little carne, shrimp and NO fries or pico!
I’m really disappointed because my brother has been raving about the size of the burritos and how good this specific one was supposed to be! I was highly disappointed!
Unbelievable portions, pretty decent pricing and a welcoming atmosphere. My ALL-TIME favorite taco shop in SD that blows everyone else out of the water. Would rate 10 stars if I could for the one guy who runs it and his dedication.
The breakfast burrito that you have been searching for!
Fantastic! Absolutely full of quality ingredients. Not skimpy at all. Thank you for a phenomenal start to my day El Papas Fritas.
