Came here on a Monday at 7:30pm as part of a food walking tour.
This place makes really good ice cream. I had a cookies and crème scoop. They also sell a variety of baked goods here.
This shop is small so once you order move on down to the other side of the store. There is no indoor seating but there are a few outdoor seats.
Definitely worth coming here for their ice cream, I highly recommend it.
Interesting mix of flavors, making it hard to decide. Super friendly staff. A bit inconsistent in the scoop sizes as my friend and I both got single scoops and one was twice the size of the other. Be sure and ask for a pup cone, as they are very dog friendly.
LIGHT & CREAMY! A dessert trip to Cali Cream is a great idea, I had the pleasure of stopping by during SDCC and they had a wonderful array of ice cream flavors, they even had themed treats for Comic Con! I selected the Twix flavored double scoop, I enjoyed it very much. The texture was perfect and the ice cream had a gentle sweetness to it.
Service was solid, the guy who helped was super nice. I originally ordered a comic con flavor and made it to the register. suddenly they ran out! The guy was apologetic and professional. Cali Cream also has baked treats, I think this is a delightful idea as you can pair a baked good with a serving of cold ice cream!
The storefront is clean and inviting. It’s truly a wonderful addition to the Gaslamp. Inside, there’s tons of people, however the staff were quick and moved things along in a timely manner. There’s a bunch of cool flavors, so many in fact I can’t attach them to this review! Peep my pics below for the menu!
As for seating, there’s a few outdoor tables, however they’re very limited. Inside there’s no seating available. I also saw some shirts hanging up on the wall, I’m thinking they sell Cali Cream merch? Anyways, this a really neat ice cream parlor, I recommend it!
Very clean place and so many old school freezers to keep the loads of flavors to choose from. My husband sampled the pumpkin pie and bourbon butter pecan (actually has alcohol) and loved the pumpkin pie so much, he has to have a cone before eating lunch! I tasted black cherry and passion fruit and both were also delicious. The black cherry was more of an ice cream where the passion fruit (ridiculously refreshing and delicious) was more like a sorbet, but I ate lunch first. Meg and Glenda were extremely friendly, helpful, and courteous!
They also have lots of baked goods that look enticing.
Huge choice of flavors. The ice cream is great, locally produced, with creamy, flavors, and great texture, it’s kept at the right temperature, and unexposed to sunlight. Overall, extremely high quality. The place is also extremely popular with long queues. Portions are large and there is good value for money. The big minus is that most flavors are overly sweet. They could tone it down a notch and the ice cream would still be fantastic. Another minus is that they only sell individual or double scoops, but with the huge choice of flavors you might want to have more than two. Overall, it is a fantastic choice for ice cream if you are in the area and lean towards a creamy and very flavour-rich and sweet ice cream.
