Coronado for a complete game victory. The location of the restaurant is solid, and the decor is clean, nothing fancy B. The service was a solid A-/B+, and the server knew both the food and drink menu. The food completed the trifecta nicely prepared, flavorful and fresh, and decent size portions and price point.
I stayed in Coronado for a week and came twice for the same meal! I loved the Rainbow Trout- the almondine crust was delicious and the potatoes were perfection. I was by myself so I sat at the upstairs bar which had a pretty view of the marina and a quiet vibe. The bartender Reid was very nice and had great recommendations.
Desserts- I got a piece of Key Lime Pie to take back to my hotel room and it was so good! The crust was a little too crumbly for my liking but the filling was great. The next night, I tried the Mud Pie and the Bread Pudding. The Mud Pie was very good, the Bread Pudding was more of a pound cake to me and probably my least favorite of what I tried.
Overall, great experience with this restaurant!
We loved Bluewater Grill. Our server Tyler was just the right mix of attentive and “leave us alone”. We started with a cup each of the New England clam chowder, and wow, it really hit the spot. It could be a meal in its own right, but then you’d miss out on the other excellent options. Tyler suggested the swordfish. He was spot-on, it was very good and not too spicy for me. He said it was less spicy than most chipotle-spiced dishes; he was right; it was delicious. My wife had the rainbow trout. It was also fantastic. We plan to eat here again the next time we come to San Diego.
The atmosphere was fun, the place was busy, but didn’t seem too loud. We were able to carry a conversation at our table. I recommend calling ahead for a reservation though. We were there on Jan 1, 2025 for dinner and walk-ins had a 45 to 75 minute wait.
Good atmosphere and friendly staff. Service was slightly below expectations but the happy hour menu made up for that! If you’re a sushi aficionado I’d recommend staying away from that here, their seafood is great. Will definitely return
After a week in San Diego this was the best place we ate. From the service up front to the wait staff and great food, we had the perfect time here. It was a thursday night. They were able to seat us next to the water, which consists of viee mainly of a boat rental dock and hut but still was nice. Drinks were good. I had the swordfish, which was served with rice and black beans and was excellent. They also had the best clam chowder in years. My wife had chicken and it was delicious and cooked to perfection. My daughter had the best fish & chips I’ve ever tried. The deserts are also amazing. Service was perfect and prices were fair considering the atmosphere–see our bill. Highly HIGHLY recommend!!
